Unlocking Paradise Your Ultimate Guide to International Travel to Belize

Unlocking Paradise: Your Ultimate Guide to International Travel to Belize

Are you dreaming of turquoise waters, lush jungles, and a laid-back tropical lifestyle? Belize might just be your passport to paradise! Whether you’re a travel enthusiast, an adventurer, or an aspiring real estate investor, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know about traveling to Belize and seizing the opportunity to invest in this Caribbean gem.

Flights to Belize: Where Adventure Begins

Your journey to Belize starts with booking a flight to Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE), located just outside Belize City. Major airlines like American Airlines, Delta, United, and Southwest offer regular flights to Belize from major U.S. cities like Miami, Houston, Atlanta, and more.

Once you step off the plane, the tropical breeze and warm welcome from locals will set the stage for your Belizean adventure. The airport is the gateway to a world of possibilities, from pristine beaches to ancient Mayan temples, and from vibrant cities to untouched rainforests.

Entry Requirements: A Smooth Arrival

Belize is known for its relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and entry requirements for most travelers are straightforward. If you’re a U.S. citizen, you won’t need a visa for visits up to 30 days. However, a valid passport is a must, with at least six months of validity remaining beyond your planned departure date.

Be prepared to fill out a Belize Immigration and Customs form upon arrival and keep the second part of this form safe—it will be needed when you depart. Travelers should also show proof of a return ticket and have sufficient funds to cover their stay.

Language and Currency: English and the Belizean Dollar

One of the many advantages of traveling to Belize is that English is the official language. Communication is a breeze, making it easier to navigate the country and interact with locals.

The Belizean Dollar (BZD) is the official currency, but U.S. dollars are widely accepted throughout the country with an exchange of $1USD equivalent to $2BZD. Most businesses and hotels accept major credit cards as well (Visa & Mastercard). If your card is issued by American Express, Diner’s Club, Discovery, or another card company, there’s a good chance not all Belizean businesses will accept it, but we recommend checking with your bank or card provider directly to make sure that Belize dollar currency conversion is indeed supported, and that card machines and ATMs in Belize commonly support cards of this type.  Be sure to notify your bank of your travel plans to avoid any issues with using your cards abroad. Important Notice: The USA $1 bill, along with coins, are not accepted in Belize so be sure to travel with notes of $2 and up.
